South Belfast Foodbank is STILL OPEN but how we operate has dramatically altered. For the time being we have stopped all face to face sessions and have instead moved to pre packed crates going directly to the frontline agencies and are piloting other distribution options.
Another big change we are implementing this week is that we will no longer be receiving food donations from individuals, and Tescos Newtownbreda has suspended the permanent collection point (collection trolley). We are hoping to be able to receive larger bulk donations from supermarkets, as we have received a large amount of money, to enable us to do this. As a board, we know that safety, infection control and distancing is paramount and as a result we feel it is essential to limit people having to come to our warehouse and for food having to move from hand to hand. With this in mind, we feel bulk buying is the safest system for us at present. Once this changes, we will let you know.
