Volunteer Week 2025

5th June 2025

Volunteers Week is always the first week in June, and every year since we started this Foodbank, we’ve taken the time to mark and celebrate and thank our amazing team of volunteers.

At SBFB, our volunteers do some amazing work. Usually, it’s around 3 hours per week, some do a little less, a few do far more.

The tasks they accomplish are various and are all play a small part in the large picture of getting food aid to people in need.

We have volunteers who make phone calls – calling each person referred to us and offering them an appointment to get booked in. We have front of house teams (7 of them across Mon-Thursday) who meet and greet, welcome and chat and show people round our shop and help them get food and do some additional signposting and referral work.

We have a dedicated team of volunteers in the warehouse, who are behind the scenes – who collect food from supermarkets, drop off to our warehouse, weigh food in, date it, sort it, sub-sort it, put it away, gather it up, fill the van, make up parcels, deliver parcels, bring food to our shop, and finally fill our shelves so they’re bursting with food.

They then do it all again the following week.

Can you see how grateful we are for this amazing bunch of everyday people who literally are life changers?

They do this all “to help others”, “to give something back”, or “to make a little difference”. It’s not little at all, but a huge difference in the lives of people referred into our project.

So we take the chance to say a MASSIVE “THANK YOU” to our over 100 volunteers. We couldn’t do what we do without YOU!
